It's official

I am not going to language school; I get to go directly to Rio (without passing go or collecting $200) and start work. Now all that's left is the visa. Without it, I'm not going directly anywhere.

That is good that you will be able to begin helping as soon as you arrive. Have you heard anything else about your visa?

Nothing yet, but the mission's office in Brasilia is working on it. I think they're having to do some extra paperwork. Anyway, they're keeping up with the status.

that's so crazy. it's been a month and 1 day since we finished orientation and you started your visa process before that! well at least you get to go straight to Rio!

Wow, who would have known that it would be this difficult! At least they are taking care of it now. I spoke with Jeff Gray (from FPO) the other day and it looks like they are able to fly out on June 6th to their country. They were delayed because of health problems with one of their daughters. Jeff seemed real excited that they were finally able to leave. I say that to say, there is hope! : ) Do you know of anyone else from our FPO that is still waiting to leave?

I am the only one left here that I know of, though I know of several who had visa problems.
